A Quick Recap
So many amazing things have been happening in our Crew over the past few weeks. Here is a look back in time at some important happenings...
Each and every day, we begin and end our day in Crew. This is a time where we learn about and celebrate each other and practice and reflect on our Habits of Character.
Each week, our Crew has been teaming up with Miss Sarah's first grade crew for "YO" (Younger/Older) Buddies. Our Crew has been working on modeling their Habits of Character while giving kind, helpful, and specific feedback to their buddies.
On Fridays, our grade level has been teaming up with Ms. Julie, our School Psychologist. We have been deepening our understanding on what it means to be and upstander vs. a bystander in social situations. Students worked in teams to present their understanding of this in a unique way (videos, animations, puppet shows, skits, etc.).
Our Star Wars themed Field Day was a huge success! Students practiced problem-solving, communication, and collaboration during each event.
We have now concluded Case Study 1 of our first expedition. Students had the opportunity to visit Cheese Ranch two more times where they identified the abiotic and biotic features and noticed cycles and changes that were taking place within this ecosystem.
Our Crew also had the chance to visit the arctic tundra through Google Expeditions (virtual reality). Students are continuing to look closely and work towards answering the question: what makes an ecosystem an ecosystem?
Students are doing the work of real scientists as they explore different ecosystems within our area. Students explored the grasslands and pond areas of the HRCA Backcountry Wilderness area. In late November, students will have the opportunity to participate in a service learning project to benefit the Backcountry (more details to come!).
