Collaboration Celebration

For the past two weeks, our Crew has been focusing on collaboration.  During our morning Crew meetings, students have participated in various initiatives and held some great discussions centered around this habit of character.

During our reflections, students have created a list of behaviors to define what it looks like and sounds like to collaborate successfully.

Successful collaboration requires...
  • sharing ideas
  • listening to others
  • testing out ideas and revising them
  • working together
  • clear communication
  • encouragement

Students are continuing to add to and revise their definition as they experience collaboration in various forms.

YO Buddies:
Students had to collaborate with their YO buddy to make the longest paper chain possible using only one sheet of paper.

Togetherness:
Students in our Crew noticed that not everyone was getting an equal opportunity to participate during our selected togetherness activity.  Students collaborated to revise the rules to make it a successful experience for everyone.

Expedition:
Small groups of students worked together as they combined their field work experiences, research, and observations to compose an informative song or rap about ecosystems.

North Star Assembly:
Our entire Crew was recognized and celebrated at this week's North Star assembly for demonstrating collaboration!  It was exciting and powerful to watch our entire Crew stand united and be celebrated by the entire Fox Creek Crew!
